Geraghty's Mine
In 1859 Patrick Geraghty & William Moore dug & blasted this adit 122mtrs into the hill. They failed to intersect the reef they were looking for. The mine was successfully reworked by two miners in the 1880's. I'm not sure how much gold was won from this mine.

Geraghty's Mine - Entrance
The man from snowy river? resting at the entrance to Geraghty's mine. The portal (entrance) has been reconstructed and stabilized in recent years. There is a locked steel safety door about 12 mtrs inside the adit.

Geraghty's Mine - Inside Out
Inside Geraghty's mine. It is an easy walk to this mine from tunnel st or the Anderson's Creek carpark.

Geraghty's Mine - Beyond The Steel Door
Okay. After seeing this website, Parks Ranger, Colin was impressed enough (?) to invite me to join him on one of his regular safety inspections of the mines in the area. * Please read the note at the bottom of the page!

Geraghty's Mine - By Torch Light
This is how it looks inside, using torches to show the way.

Geraghty's Mine - Small Drive

*PLEASE READ THIS!

Colin, a local Parks Ranger invited me to join him on one of his regular safety inspections of the mines. I wore a hard-hat and sturdy boots. Colin checked the condition of each mine, prior to me entering. I left my son's at home on this visit.

Parks Rangers cannot conduct personal tours of the mines. This was a one-off opportunity only. However, the Warrandyte Historical Society usually conducts tours of the Geraghtys Mine during the Warrandyte Festival.
