Victory Mine - From Opposite Hill
The Victory mine, Whipstick Gully. As viewed from the hill opposite.

Victory Mine - Adit
The Victory poppet head and shaft would have been located approximately where I was standing when I took this photograph. The Victory mine produced 1,870oz of gold in a 3 year period. It operated for many years under different lease holders, so I'm not sure how much gold was won in total. The mine closed in 1929 and was used for a further 5 years as a dump for night soil (toilet waste). The only nuggets to be found in there today may be brown in colour!

Victory Mine - Entrance
The Victory mine adit has a steel safety door only 2 mtrs inside.

Victory Mine - Beyond The Steel Door
This is what it looks like beyond the steel door.
* Please read the note at the bottom of the page 3.

Victory Mine - Veins Of Quartz
Veins of quartz can be seen throughout the adit.

Victory Mine - More Quartz
Some whiter looking quartz.

Victory Mine - That Sinking Feeling
The adit goes in about 30 mtrs or so before you get to the inner safety door. It slopes downwards and becomes a gallery. This has happened because a drive, stope or gallery has collapsed on a lower level.
See the bottom of that steel door? Thats where Colin should be standing.
This mine is not the safest place to be; hence it has been closed off to the public.
