Battery Remains
Whipstick Gully stamping battery. Only the brick foundation remains. I'm not sure if the battery sat on this brickwork. It may have been an engine foundation. If you look closely at the picture you will see one of two grates that cover shafts (top right hand corner).

Whipstick Gully Shaft
One of at least two shafts just above the battery. These shafts have safety grates fitted.

Whipstick Gully Shaft - Inside
Photo taken through grate down into the shaft. Take a very close look at the pic and you will see that the shaft inclines down to the left. What appears to be the bottom is just a partial collapse.

Collapsed Adit
This adit is located just to the right of the battery. The entrance to the adit has all but collapsed. I'm not 100% sure that it is an adit. It could be a incline or ventilation shaft?

Collapsed Adit - Inside
It's amazing what you can see when you poke a digital camera lens in through the grate. The entrance may have almost closed over, but the adit/shaft is quite open.

Whipstick Gully Main Quarry
The largest quarry in Whipstick Gully. The quarries were worked in the 1940s and 1950s to provide stone for local buildings. There is a timber poppet head opposite this quarry. The poppet head is a reproduction built in 1995. For this reason I did not include it in this essay.
